All rooms are surrounded by a large deck from which you can enjoy stunning views and sunsets over the Tasman Sea. There are many kilometres of unspoilt deserted beaches, beautiful rivers and fascinating walks just around the corner, like the Charming Creek Walkway, one of the South Islands top five short walks. If you love the outdoors, explore the numerous mountain bike trails in this area, such as the Old Ghost Road and the Heaphy Track or discover the region’s mining history by visiting the Denniston Mine.
Our facilities include:
Aotearoa as it used to be – lush, unspoiled and natural. Half an hour north of Westport on the doorstep of the Kahurangi National Park, Gentle-Annie is a coastal enclave with its own warm frost free microclimate. Bounded by the Tasman Sea, the mighty Mokihinui River and Nikau-fringed native bush, it is an excellent place to set up base and be rejuvenated and recharged.
We have 4 private, self-contained holiday homes, a backpacker style lodge, and a camping ground, all a stones throw from the ocean or river, with beautiful views of this stunning area.
Gentle Annie is 15 minutes from the world class Old Ghost Road mountain biking and walking track and within an hour of many scenic attractions of the Northern Buller Region – north to Kahurangi National Park, Heaphy Track, Oparara Valley with it’s Limestone Arches and Honeycomb Caves; and south to Charming Creek Walkway, Denniston Plateau, Cape Foulwind Seal Colony and Punakaiki Pancake Rocks. The region maintains much of its eccentricity and wilderness, offering an opportunity to get close to nature. If you’re a moutain biker, botanist, geologist, artist, beachcomber, fisherman, kayaker, cyclist, tramper and/or adventurer at heart, Gentle-Annie is a natural destination for you.Jesse and Jessica Paley-AtkinsAddress: Gentle Annie, 298 De Malmanches Road, Mokihinui, Westport 7891Phone: 03 782 1826 or 027 418 8587Email: firstname.lastname@example.orgWebsite: www.gentleannie.co.nz
