The Denniston Tour visits the coal plateau high above the coastal flats. Here underground miners toiled extracting high quality coal and there are many amazing relics from the mining era. Denniston is an area rich in history, unusual landforms and outstanding scenery.
Tucked away in a corner of Kahurangi National Park, The Oparara has a magic all of its own, born of a million years of undisturbed isolation.
The Oparara’s affinity with Tolkien’s mystical forests is today reflected in the Lord of the Rings names now scattered throughout the Basin.
Rich unspoiled rainforest stretching across a broad valley floor, three magnificent arches sculpted by the Oparara River, bush-fringed streams stained the colour of billy tea from the humic acids washing down through the soil, and an underground treasure hidden away in a highly complex cave system, combine to make this remarkable area one of immense national and international significance.

The Pulse Energy Recreation Centre is Westport’s recreation base and something for everyone. Our facility includes 3 swimming pools, a fitness centre, a 2 court sports stadium, squash court and a hockey turf. We also have meeting rooms for small and large meetings and conferences.

Underworld Adventures Ltd is located on the wild West Coast of New Zealand. Founded by three West Coast cavers in 1987 each cave adventure is dedicated to share the founder’ s passion for the caves and karst beyond the historic township of Charleston.
From our new base in Charleston we explore the subterranean world of the Paparoa National Park. Experience amazing cave formations, gaze at or float under a surreal galaxy of glowworms and if you come with us underworld rafting finish your trip of by tubing down the gentle rapids of the Nile River.
West Coast Surf has been operating from beautiful Tauranga bay for the past 16 years. Mark (Puke) Perana is the owner/operator and brings to you his vast experience and knowledge to each and every lesson. Mark has been in full time coaching either surf or snow for the last 23 years. He has in the past won National titles and coached the NZ team. Mark is a SNZ certified level 2 coach.
No matter what your level of surfing is, beginner or experienced, he can help you improve it! He is passionate about the art of surfing and enthusiastic about teaching it, with a strong focus on keeping you safe in the process.
West Coast Surf offers group lessons daily at 10am or 2pm, each lesson is customised to your individual needs, surfboards and wetsuits are supplied. Private lessons are also available.
West Coast Surf also offer a great range of hire equipment from beginner boards to short and long boards, as well as wetsuits.
